SuperEnalotto
Jackpot: €48,100,000
Draw Date: 21st Dec 2024
SuperEnalotto is one of the most popular lottery games in Italy and is regularly played by millions of people every week. The game is renowned for its difficulty, but with no jackpot cap SuperEnalotto top prizes can reach gigantic amounts before someone matches the six main numbers drawn. It’s this challenge that makes the game beloved in Italy, as well as all over the world. In its current format, SuperEnalotto has been running since December 1997, replacing Enalotto, the original incarnation of the game that had previously been played in the country since the 1950s. Significant changes to SuperEnalotto in February 2016 saw the introduction of faster-growing jackpots, an additional prize tier and even the possibility of winning an instant prize right when you purchase your ticket. The likelihood of players winning a cash prize in the main game also improved from 1 in 318 to 1 in 20.
How to Play SuperEnalotto
Players are required to select six numbers from a pool of 90, with each ticket costing €1. For an additional fee, participants can also select a SuperStar number from a separate pool, with numbers again ranging from 1 to 90. If this SuperStar number matches the one drawn, the player gains access to additional prize tiers, depending on how many numbers they match in the main draw. SuperEnalotto draws take place four times weekly, on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 20:00 CET. As with most lottery draws, you can choose your own numbers, or use the quick-pick system for random selections.
During the SuperEnalotto game, six numbers from a possible 90 are drawn, plus a ‘Jolly’ number. To scoop the SuperEnalotto jackpot players must match all the numbers on their lottery ticket to the first six balls drawn in the SuperEnalotto lottery draw. Matching the ‘Jolly’ number allows players to access an additional prize tier and increase their winnings if they have matched five main numbers. The enlarged ball pool makes the SuperEnalotto jackpot so elusive, but so worthwhile to win. Below is a table showing each prize tier and the odds of a player collecting each prize:
Numbers Matched | Odds of Winning |
---|---|
6 | 1 in 622,614,630 |
5 + Jolly | 1 in 103,769,105 |
5 | 1 in 1,250,230 |
4 | 1 in 11,907 |
3 | 1 in 327 |
2 | 1 in 22 |

SuperEnalotto Jackpots
With large SuperEnalotto jackpots occurring on a regular basis, lottery syndicates are commonplace in Italy. Whole offices, families and organisations have been known to club together to buy lottery tickets when the top prize reaches dizzying heights. The colossal SuperEnalotto jackpots also make the draw a firm favourite with lottery syndicates from around the world, who prefer to chase big jackpots rather than be restricted to lottery draws in their home nation.
SuperEnalotto has produced a number of incredible top prizes, many of which have exceeded €100 million. The largest prize won on the game was worth €371 million and came in February 2023- a European lottery record that still stands to this day. While it may not approach the sums of cash won on other world lottery games, it’s still an admirable amount of money!
Prior to February 2016, SuperEnalotto added only 34% of the revenue it generated into the total prize fund, unlike other lottery draws around the world that tend to put over half of all money from ticket sales into the prize pool. However, following a refresh of certain details of the game, SuperEnalotto now garnishes the prize fund with 60% of takings from ticket sales to generate faster-growing jackpots.
